Bosch Washing Machine Error Codes Explained
Bosch washing machines are reliable, but when something goes wrong they tell you with an E or F code on the display. Knowing what the code means saves time – and tells our technician exactly which part to bring.
The most common Bosch washing machine error codes
- E18 / F18 – the machine cannot drain. Usually a blocked drain pump or filter (very common with UAE hard water and lint), or a kinked drain hose.
- E23 / F23 – water detected in the base tray. A leak somewhere in the machine; switch it off and call for service.
- E17 / F17 – water not filling in time. A blocked inlet valve or low water pressure.
- F21 / E21 – drum/motor fault. The drum is not turning correctly.
- F63 / E63 – a control-board (electronics) fault, sometimes after a power spike.
Try this first for E18/F18: switch the machine off, open the drain-pump filter flap at the bottom-front, and clear any lint, coins or debris. In UAE homes this filter clogs every few months. If the code returns, the pump itself may need replacing.
What to do when you see a code
Note the exact code, switch the machine off at the wall, and check the simple things (filter, drain hose, door seal). If it is a leak (E23) or an electronics fault (F63), do not keep running the machine – book a technician.
